Egypt: fruits and vegetables

Citrus, potatoes, onions and berries under seasonal programmes and contract supply.

Sourcing direction

Egypt covers the winter and spring supply window: oranges and mandarins from December, potatoes and onions across a long season, grapes and strawberries in their windows. We arrange contract supply from Egyptian producers and export houses — the supplier is selected and vetted for your request.

For retail chains we are ready to assemble a seasonal programme with a fixed calendar, specification and packaging standard; quality control before shipment is arranged for each batch to the scope agreed in the contract.

Season

When the items of this direction are in season

The monthly windows come from the consolidated seasonality calendar: the direction table and the calendar are built from the same data. Availability, variety and the exact boundaries of the window are confirmed before quotation.

Supply terms

Batch, packaging, route

The parameters a buyer asks about first. Everything named here goes into the contract specification before shipment. The destination is your warehouse or the distribution centre (DC) of a retail chain.

01 /

Minimum batch

We work from a full truck or container. Exact volumes and the delivery schedule are fixed in the contract.

02 /

Packaging and labelling

Packaging type, net weight per box, palletising layout and the labelling artwork are agreed in the specification before the first shipment. Repacking and labelling to your acceptance standard are arranged at partner preparation facilities.

03 /

Route and transit time

The main route of this direction is a sea shipment with a subsequent road leg to the buyer's warehouse or DC. The port of discharge, the Incoterms delivery basis and the transit time are stated in the quotation together with the price; the temperature mode is fixed in the carriage contract.

04 /

Customs and documents

We coordinate the clearance; the declarations are filed by licensed customs representatives. The list of documents for a batch depends on the item and the delivery basis; the final composition is fixed in the contract.

05 /

Supply format

How supply is organised

01 /

Direct contract

We are ready to contract producers and export packers directly — for a specific request. Before every contract we check the supplier against the restrictions in force at Rosselkhoznadzor: an exporter closed for import means a truck stopped at the border, not a line in the news. Specification, calibre, packaging and the Incoterms delivery basis are fixed in the contract.

02 /

Quality control at loading

Inspection in the country of shipment is arranged before loading: ripeness, calibre, packaging and temperature mode are checked against the agreed specification, and the scope of control is fixed in the contract. The point of control is to catch discrepancies before the DC gates, not at them.

03 /

Cold chain to the point of acceptance

The cold chain to the DC of a chain or to the buyer's warehouse is arranged with engaged partner carriers; the temperature mode is fixed in the carriage contract.

Questions

Frequent questions

When is the season for Egyptian citrus?

Egyptian citrus peaks in winter and spring. Exact programme windows and varieties are agreed per season before contracting.

Do you work under seasonal programmes?

A programme fixes volumes, the delivery calendar, the specification and the packaging for the season; spot deliveries on request are also possible. The composition of the programme is agreed before the contract is signed.

Who handles customs and documents?

We arrange customs clearance with licensed partners: we coordinate, licensed brokers declare. Areas of responsibility are fixed in the contract via Incoterms.

Can produce be packed to our retail standard?

Within the agreed terms: sorting, calibration, repacking and labelling to your acceptance standard are arranged at partner preparation facilities. The labelling artwork and the packaging standard are agreed before the first shipment.
